October 17, 2014

On Friday October 17th, the Mount Kisco Fire Department was dispatched for a possible structure fire at 205 Lexington Avenue just before 9 PM. Within minutes Chiefs Al Bueti (Car 2282) and John Boddie (Car 2283) were on scene with heavy fire in a wood frame dwelling with reports of occupants still inside of the house. The house was located on Maplewood drive with a rear yard connecting to Lexington Avenue. The 10-75 Working Fire Assignment was requested brining MKFD’s 3rd and 4th engines to the scene as well as Bedford Hills FD FAST Team.

Within minutes of the initial dispatch Engine 105 was the first engine on location and made an aggressive stretch through the garage and up into the second floor of the home. Before secondary units called on location the crew of Engine 105 knocked down the main body of fire keeping the fire from spreading to the rear of the structure. With secondary units on location the Mutual Engine crews assisted with secondary hose lines while the Hooks opened up the roof and began ventilation. Engine 106’s crew assisted with search and rescue and the subsequent overhaul due to the heavy fire load in the front bedrooms of the building.

All occupants made it out of the building safe prior to FD arrival and the MKFD made a quick knock down and a great save to a fast moving fire. 10 people were displaced due to the fire and have been assisted by the Red Cross. Great job done by all!
