MKFD takes in Bedford 2 Alarm
By Engineer James Tipa, Jr
July 26, 2014
Late in the evening on July 26th the Mount Kisco Fire Department was dispatched to Bedford Village near the Village Green for a working house fire. Bedford Village FD was first called for an automatic alarm from a home on Pound Ridge Road when Police on scene updated them to a fire in the rear of the residence. On arrival of the Bedford Chief crews began placement of a line into the basement while toning out a working fire response. Mount Kisco arrived with Engine 106 and Utility 13 (FAST Team) and immediately went to work. While the engine crew assisted moving in hand lines and controlling the basement fire the FAST team setup ground ladders on each side of the home allowing for easy egress if the fire conditions worsened. Crew’s later assisted in preserving the scene for fire investigation while others assisted rolling hose lines and getting apparatus back in service. Homeowners were away on vacation and no injuries were reported. The family bunny even made it out safe!
