Ex-Captain Peter Hughes, Jr., February 16

On Tuesday, February 5, 2019, the Independent Fire Company honored John (Jack) A. Marshall Jr. who celebrated 70 years of active service with IFCO. Jack’s family along with Town, County and State dignitaries were invited to attend the celebration.

Working Fire at Grand Prix

On Monday February 4th at 3:41 PM MKFD was dispatch to 333 North Bedford Road, 60 Control dispatched a reported structure fire in the rear of the building. Upon arrival Chief Hughes (2281) reported a working fire in the rear of Grand Prix and transmitted a 10-75. On Sunday January 13th at 3:49 PM Chappaqua FD was dispatched to #2 Sutton Farm Drive. The original dispatch was for a fire on the roof. While in route CFD chief transmitted a 1075 due to the Plume of smoke. On arrival fire was showing on the roof around the chimney. The fire advanced extremely fast due to the wood shingle roof. Background:

The Independent Fire Company is an all-volunteer fire company with approximately 65 members. The company is one of four that make up the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department. The other three companies are the Union Hook & Ladder Co #1, the Mutual Engine & Hose Co #1 and the Mount Kisco Rescue & Fire Police.
 
The Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department covers approximately 3 square miles, half of which in the Town / Village of Mount Kisco proper, and the other half is made up of sections of the Town of New Castle and the Town of Bedford. The M.K.F.D. protects a population of approximately 18,000 people.
